In a recent development, the UK government has announced significant changes to its visa regulations, set to take effect from Spring 2024. These changes are expected to impact various categories of visas and will have substantial consequences for both foreign workers and their sponsors.
One of the most notable adjustments is the substantial increase in the baseline minimum salary requirement for Skilled Worker visas. Currently standing at £26,200, this minimum threshold will surge to £38,700. It is important to note that this increase does not apply to individuals applying for the Health and Care Worker visa or those employed in the education sector who are following national pay scales.
Additionally, individuals seeking to sponsor someone for a spouse/partner visa will face a gradual rise in the minimum income requirement. Previously set at £18,600, this threshold will progressively increase to £29,000.
Additionally, this year will also witness significant changes in other visa categories. Review of the Graduate visa, restrictions on newly arriving care workers to bring the immediate family members with them and adjustments to the shortage occupation list are also in the pipeline.
